For Mani Ratnam, fate has taken the most unexpected turn recently . Who would have thought that a failure could strike him when he has the ever successful company of A R Rahman and PC Sreeram backing him.
Mouna Ragam, Nayakan, Iruvar, Alaipayuthey – a look at those titles and images still flash before us. Unfortunately, Kadal brough along waves that washed out all that was good for Mani. Some, would agree expectations were way too high but at the end of the day Kadal will continue to be a stain in the illustrious filmmakers career. No doubt for many it is a movie which has overshadowed his noteworthy contributions.
However, Ratnam has gathered much strength and has been fervently planning for a comeback since the past few days. For the same, he is expected to give his audience something on the lines of edgy productions like Agni Natchathiram , Bombay and Anjali.
Reports flowing in indicate, he has roped in writer Renzil D’ Silva, part of the Rang De Basanti fame. Just like the writer’s last Mani’s next will feature Aamir Khan. For the female lead Kareena Kapoor has been zeroed upon.Previously, this ‘jodi’ has created magic with their collaboration in 3 Idiots ( which was remade in Tamil as Nanban )and Talaash. For the music Mani will be banking on AR Rahman who was the lone saving grace for Kadal.
